Church Regulations for Lenten Fasting and Abstinence 1. Almsgiving, fasting and abstinence are Lenten practices. Everyone 14 + yrs. old is bound to abstain from meat on Ash Wednesday, all the Fridays of Lent and Good Friday 2. Everyone age 18 yrs. or older and under age 59 is bound to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. 3. Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics; Meaning only one full meatless meal is allowed. Two other meatless meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to individual needs, but together they should not be equal to one full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted. When health or ability to work would be seriously affected, the law does not oblige. 4. Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed minimal penitential practices.
This is an opportunity for families to share resources with people in poverty from around the world through CRS (Catholic Relief Services). Please take home a box, fill it with cash/check and return it at the end of Lent. Thank you.
Heavenly Father, please protect our nation, our military and our leaders. Turn our nation’s hearts towards You Holy Father, that we may put You first and obey Your commandments and glorify You with all that we do. Amen.
